CHANDAKA,阐陀

"A servant of Shakyamuni before He renounced secular life. When Shakyamuni left Kapilavastu to embark on a religious life, Chandaka accompanied him, holding his horse Kanthaka by the bridle. When Shakyamuni had gone some distance to the south, it is said, he cut his hair, handed over his jeweled ornaments to Chandaka and sent him back to Kapilavastu with the message that he would not return until he had fulfilled his objective.
