RAFT

"In Mahayana Buddhism, the teaching is likened to a raft; when the goal, the Other Shore, is reached, then the raft is left behind. Similarly, according to the 'metaphor of the raft,' the teaching itself is relinquished when its end is attained. This means that the form of the teaching is not final dogma but an expedient method."
