Lesser capacity. Refers to people whose karmic causes for the attainment of enlightenment are shallow and dull （same as 钝根）. Usually these people need special expedient teachings so before they can grasp the real point of the worldview presented for Buddhist contemplation. It is the lowest of three capacities， the other two being superior 上根 and middling 中根. ［涅槃经 T 374.12.447c22］
