In Abhidharma theory, the indeterminate mental functions, which do not have a determinable good or evil nature, and do not always act in concomitance with the mind in all of its states (aniyata^-bhu^mika). These include reflection 寻, investigation 伺, sleepiness 眠, repentance 恶作, covetousness 贪, antipathy 嗔, pride 慢, and doubt 疑. Equivalent to this category in Yoga^ca^ra are the four indeterminate mental functions 四不定.
