Two kinds of existence, two kinds of reality; two extremes. Bifurcated views of the way things are, such as seeing existence 有 and non-existence 无. The term is used to refer to the two existences of nirvana 涅槃 and sam!sa^ra 生死, which are distinguished in two by lesser vehicle Buddhism, and said to be one in Maha^ya^na Buddhism.
