The "five eyes": （1） 肉眼rouyan the earthly， physical eye. （2） 天眼 tianyan the heavenly eye， possessed by devas， as well as humans in the form realm who are in meditation; this eye can see far and near， past and future， inside and outside. （3） 慧眼huiyan， the wisdom eye， possessed by Hi^naya^na sages who can the lack of inherent existence in all things. （4） 法眼fayan the Dharma Eye， possessed by bodhisattvas which illuminates all teachings in order to save sentient beings. （5） 佛眼foyan the Buddha-eye， which includes all of the prior four.
