'Mind-king.' The overall cognitive function of one's consciousness， as opposed to the distinctive mental functions which belong to it （called 心所）. In the Abhidharmako/sa- bha^sya 俱舍论， only one mind-king is conceived， but the Faxiang 法相 sect establishes eight， one for each of the eight consciousnesses. There is no such term as 'mind-king' in Indian Buddhism.
