The action of the pondering mind. （2） As one of the twelve loci （十二处）， the mind locus. （3） The mano （sixth） consciousness 意识. （4） In Sarva^stiva^din 说一切有部 theory， the mental faculty （of the six faculties）， functioning to cognize. The mind organ--synonymous with 心 and 识. （5） In "eight consciousness" theory （such as in the Yoga^ca^ra school）， it is a term for the seventh （manas 末那） consciousness.
