Prabha^karamitra (564-633), who name means "illuminated friend" and is abbreviated as 波罗颇蜜多罗 and 波颇. A monk originally from Maghada, who was a student of S/i^labhadra 戒贤, with whom he studied at Nalanda 那烂陀 temple. He came to Ch'ang-an in 627, first becoming involved as a tutor for the imperial family. He then translated some scriptures into Chinese, including the Maha^ya^nasu^tra-lam!ka^ra 大乘庄严经论 and the 般若灯论.
