（samatikrama-utpatti）. The 'transcending sama^dhi.' A concentration in which， instead of progressing step by step through the four meditations， the four formless concentrations， and the concentration of extinction， the practitioner can directly enter the final concentration of extinction （灭尽定）， or conversely， come directly out of the concentration of extinction.
