"Interpenetrated Buddhism." A concept of the Silla master Wonhyo 元晓 to describe the Buddhist teachings as he saw them to be--absent of disagreement at the most fundamental level. In famous commentarial works such as his Kisillon so 起信论疏 and his Simmun hwajaeng non 十门和诤论 Wonhyo strove to point out that although the doctrines of the various schools received from India appeared to be in conflict, if they were properly understood in terms of their "essence" (体), then the differences could be seen as mere variations in response to certain circumstances.
